  • Overview

The Princeton University Art Museum seeks an inspired and inspiring leader capable of building sustainable, long-term philanthropic relationships and shaping complex philanthropic strategies to serve as its next full-time Associate Director, Art Museum Development (AD-D).

The Museum is preparing for tremendous growth, including a new facility being designed by Sir David Adjaye, which will provide dramatically enhanced spaces for the display of the collections, temporary exhibitions, collections study, education, and public amenities. Fundraising and planning are well underway, with construction anticipated to occur over the next five years; an aggressive plan to secure new capital giving, endowment, and annual support must now be developed and implemented.

Working closely with the Director, the  AD-D, will take the lead in securing the donated resources essential to the Museum’s operational success. Focusing on strategy; donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship; and campus and community collaborations, the AD-D, will develop, lead, and mentor a high-quality team that will shape and deliver ambitious goals that grow and diversify the Museum’s philanthropic revenue streams.

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to make the case for giving to the arts and humanities with clear evidence of effectively identifying, cultivating, and stewarding leadership gifts, as well as empowering others to be successful front-line fundraisers. The selected candidate is adept at balancing risk with informed judgment and is comfortable with extensive goals. The AD-D also will demonstrate superb, polished communications skills, and a passion for the Museum’s mission.
