Overview

Princeton University is seeking a Lead Developer/Analyst II to join its Software Infrastructure Services (SIS) team. As a member of this team, you will design, develop and implement customer-centric software application solutions collaborating with other technology peers in Princeton's Office of Information Technology (OIT). In particular, this role will serve as the team development expert on:

  • data integration processes and APIs, using the WSO2 platform
  • container based applications, using Python and VueJS
  • Azure/OCI migration best practices

In addition you will be expected to collaborate with team members to:

  • maintain the Puppet code for our VM infrastructure
  • participate and contribute to the Operational duties of SIS

Responsibilities

  • Lead the application development life cycle process for customer application development projects:
    • Collaborate with customers to identify and document application requirements.
    • Fully understand the business practices and provide feedback and advice.
    • Design the application architecture based on best practices and data security.
    • Work with peers to develop best practices for coding, testing and deployment processes.
  • Contribute to the OIT wide initiative to migrate our administrative and academic applications from on-premise to Azure/OCI.
  • Apply Agile Project Management methodology and best practices for task prioritising and schedule transparency.
  • Develop APIs using our WSO2 platform and tooling.
  • Develop and containerize micro-services using Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Develop custom applications using Python/Flask and VueJS.
  • Write Infrastructure as Code to manage our VMWare resources using Puppet.
  • Develop performant SQL to extract data from Oracle and MSSQL databases.
  • Maintain our Infrastructure as Code via Puppet
  • Maintain and administer our production applications and APIs

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 10 years experience as a custom software developer/analyst
  • Extensive experience in the installation, upgrade, enhancement, and support of large-scale administrative applications
  • Expertise in Python, Docker, HTML5, CSS, Javascript, XML, Cloud
  • Mastery of relational DBMS query algorithms with strong PL/SQL experience
  • Previous experience working as a lead developer on a full life cycle project
  • Very strong interpersonal skills, communication (oral and written), and the ability to work effectively in teams
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work with business analysts on specification development
  • Ability to multi-task between and among projects and applications
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse user base having varied levels of technical proficiencies

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Puppet, Chef, Ansible, etc.)
  • Experience in Azure
  • Experience in Oracle Cloud (OCI)
  • Experience with Agile Project Management
  • Experience with DevSecOps best practices
