Overview

The mission of Princeton University Department of Athletics is to strive for excellence in academics and athletics, while embracing equity in opportunity, good sportsmanship, and ethical conduct.

 

Reporting to the Associate Director of Athletics, Advancement/Athletics Friends Groups, the Coordinator, Athletics Advancement & Athletics Friends Groups will support the overall functions of the Athletics Advancement team. This position will have primary responsibilities that will include oversight of communications and the planning and execution of annual events for the 18 sport-specific varsity Athletics Friends Groups. The Athletics Friends Groups at Princeton University support a wide range of needs and opportunities within each of the 38 varsity athletics teams that enable the Department of Athletics to provide the best student-athlete experience possible. Beyond the Athletics Friends Group responsibilities, the Coordinator will be afforded the opportunity to work with key constituents including coaches, alumni, campus partners and supporters of Princeton Athletics.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Associate Director of Athletics, Advancement/Friends Groups, to lead planning and execution of select Athletics Friends Group fundraising and alumni engagement events and programming across 38 varsity athletics programs. This includes events hosted on-campus, regional events off-campus and virtual events.
  • Provide support for larger-scale Department of Athletics events (annual events and special events that span across Athletics Friends Groups, the Princeton Varsity Club and the Department of Athletics), which includes the Gary Walters ’67 PVC Awards Banquet and Tiger Athletics Give Day (TAGD), the Department of Athletics annual 24-hour giving day.
  • Under the guidance of the Associate Director of Athletics, Advancement/Athletics Friends Groups, the Coordinator will be tasked with oversight of the day-to-day execution of Athletics Friends Group communications across the 18 varsity Athletics Friends Groups. This includes, but is not limited to, program updates, newsletters, and event communications.
  • Assist with solicitation communications (email and hard mail outreach) in support of fundraising efforts for the Athletics Friends Groups, including Tiger Athletics Give Day (TAGD).
  • Work with the Athletics Advancement Assistant to support club sport communications and engagement efforts.
  • Support stewardship efforts for numerous donor levels, which includes the creation and fulfillment of stewardship collateral.
  • Support donor engagement and recognition events as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • One to three years of experience in a similar field
  • Proficient with MS office products (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to balance multiple projects at a time
  • Ability to communicate effectively with various constituencies
  • Ability to work with a high degree of flexibility in a highly-collaborative, fast-paced, goal-oriented environment
  • Exercising discretion at all times and able to keep confidential all data related to Princeton and its alumni
  • Willingness to work flexible and long hours, including evenings and weekends
  • Successful candidate must have an understanding of, and comply with the rules and regulations of the University, the Ivy League and the NCAA
  • Ability to uphold the commitment to Department of Athletics mission and values of Education Through Athletics.
  • Event planning background and experience with smaller and larger scale event management preferred.
  • Graphic Design experience is preferred, including knowledge of Adobe suite.
