The John H. Pace, Jr '39 Center for Civic Engagement makes service and civic engagement a central part of the Princeton student educational experience, supporting students learning through sustained community engagement, experiential learning, and programs that introduce students to communities. The Pace Center's work is guided by a set of partnership principles as well as a student learning framework that centers equity, empathy, and empowerment. The Pace Center annually welcomes half of the incoming class of undergraduate students through Community Action as well as offers robust sustained student-led and community-centered service programming through Community House, Student Volunteers Council and other programs and initiatives.
The Program Coordinator supports students engagement in service opportunities by coordinating the operational systems, logistical needs, as well as ensuring compliance with University and/or community partner policies for students participating in sustained community engagement programming through Community Action, a multi-day small-group experience program of Princeton Orientation; Community House, community-centered programs emphasizing holistic youth development through tutor-mentorship relationships and for providing tools for academic success as well as enhancing social-emotional literacy in youth participants; Student Volunteers Council, which empowers Princeton students to provide direct service to local non-profits in a number of different fields, including health, education, mentorship, arts, STEAM, special needs, and hunger & homelessness; and other programs as directed.
