Overview

The mission of Princeton University Department of Athletics is to strive for excellence in academics and athletics, while embracing equity in opportunity, good sportsmanship, and ethical conduct. In keeping with this mission, the role of the Assistant Women’s Ice Hockey Coach and Coordinator of Operations is to support a quality varsity program that will challenge and develop the physical, mental and personal abilities of student-athletes of a Division I program.

 

This position is temporary.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate film editing and breakdowns within the ice hockey office
  • Oversee filming and video including capture of all practices, home, and away games
  • Acquire video of future opponents and manage the NCAA and Ivy film exchange
  • Assist in strategy development through the use of analytics
  • Manage our social media platforms
  • Must travel with the team to away games and assist with game-day recruiting at home games 
  • Plan and organize on-campus visits
  • Assist in scheduling and coordinate all Friends Events (i.e. HC Appearances, Alumni Game, etc.)
  • Assist with the recruitment of student-athletes on a national and international level.
  • Assist with the management of recruiting database of potential recruits.
  • Plan and organize on-campus visits.
  • Assist in all aspects of coaching a nationally competitive Division I ice hockey program, including thorough knowledge of the sport, coaching strategies and student-athlete development.
  • Assist in overall program planning and organization.
  • Other Administrative duties as assigned.
  • Adherence to Ivy League, ECAC and NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Work within the framework of the Department of Athletics administration and coaches.
  • Communicate effectively with students, faculty, administration, staff and alumni.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent coaching experience.
  • High level of ice hockey knowledge
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Must be able to multi-task
  • Must recognize the importance of recruiting to the success of the program
  • Must be trusted with confidential material
  • First Aid, AED, and CPR certification within four months of hire.
  • Proficient with MS office products (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to manage team dynamics.
  • Demonstrated organizational ability for practice and recruiting.
  • An understanding of the fundamental role that intercollegiate athletics, properly implemented, can play in the educational development of our student-athletes.
  • Ability to uphold the commitment to the Department of Athletics mission and values of Education Through Athletics.
  • Experience in goalie training preferred.
  • Previous recruiting experience preferred.
  • Collegiate or professional playing experience preferred.
  • Successful background in coaching at the collegiate level preferred.
