Overview

The Princeton University Art Museum seeks an exceptional Research Assistant for a position beginning in December through June 2025. They will report to the Curator of Photography and work one to two days per week with the Curator to assist with in-depth and exploratory research on a forthcoming exhibition. 

 

This position is temporary.

With a collecting history that extends back to 1755, the Princeton University Art Museum is one of the leading university art museums in the country, with collections that have grown to include more than 115,000 works of art ranging from ancient to contemporary art and spanning the globe. Committed to advancing Princeton’s teaching and research missions, the Art Museum also serves as a gateway to the University for visitors worldwide. As the Museum prepares for a dramatically reconceived new building scheduled to open in early 2025, the Art Museum presents six exhibitions in its two downtown venues (Art on Hulfish and Art@Bainbridge) and is touring three collections exhibitions nationally and internationally.  When the new building opens, the Art Museum will initiate its new exhibitions program with nine annual exhibitions onsite and on tour.

Responsibilities

Assist with in-depth and exploratory research on a forthcoming exhibition at the intersection of care, feminism, and labor. 

Qualifications

  • A B.A. in Art History, with demonstrated research and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of basic photographic techniques and historical developments in photography
  • A proven interest in art historical research
  • A commitment to being a team player in an active office environment is vital. 
  • Attention to detail. 
  • The ability to deal with confidential and sensitive information.
     

Preferred Requirements:

  • An M.A. in art history (or a related field) is strongly preferred.
