Overview

The mission of Princeton University Department of Athletics is to strive for excellence in academics and athletics, while embracing equity in opportunity, good sportsmanship, and ethical conduct. In keeping with this mission, the role of the Coordinator of Rowing Operations is to support quality varsity programs that will challenge and develop the physical, mental and personal abilities of Division I student-athletes.

 

Princeton University Athletics, a Division I and Ivy League Conference Institution, is seeking a Coordinator of Rowing Operations under the general supervision of the Head Coaches. This is a non-coaching position. 

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all aspects of rowing events, including boat dedications, Crash P’s, Tiger Athletics Give Day, Spring Home Races, Eastern Sprints, Ivy Championships, IRA, NCAAs, Princeton Reunions, and Princeton 3-Mile Chase.
  • Manage hospitality tents including refreshments and meals.
  • Manage officials, volunteers and media coverage.
  • Coordinate regatta entries.
  • Coordinate home race set-up, timing equipment and operations with facilities and external rentals.
  • Oversee distribution of home race information and communication with media and opposing teams.
  • Plan and organize annual rowing banquet including dinner, event set-up, letter sweaters, annual awards, traveling team trophies and manage trophy cases.
  • Act as a liaison to the Equipment office.
  • Place annual orders for all gear, shoes and periodic equipment orders.
  • Distribute rowing gear, training items and gather sizes from all student-athletes ensuring proper fit.
  • Assist with the purchasing of new boats, oars and other rowing specific equipment.
  • Assist with the resale of used boats, oars and other rowing specific equipment.
  • Assist with the purchase and resale of Row Ergs and Bike Ergs.
  • Submit and process purchase orders for rowing equipment through PeopleSoft purchasing system.
  • Reconcile travel and purchasing card monthly.
  • Manage and maintain boathouse inventory database.
  • Assist rowing coaches with expense reconciliations.
  • Coordinate team travel that includes, flights, buses, hotel, meals, visiting practice times, entries, equipment rentals and waivers.
  • Assist with away race coordination.
  • Develop trip itineraries.
  • Be available to help coordinate logistics during official visit weekends (airport runs, campus tours, etc.).
  • Act as a liaison to the sports information office.
  • Assist with the program's social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram).
  • Manage team rosters.
  • Monitor team member eligibility.
  • Responsible for a variety of administrative duties concerning Alumni relations.
  • Order office supplies.
  • Work within the framework of the Department of Athletics administration and coaches.
  • Communicate effectively with students, faculty, administration, staff and alumni.
  • Ability to uphold the commitment to Department of Athletics mission of Education Through Athletics.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Proficient with MS office products (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • The ability to manage several tasks and/or projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to work well in a fast paced, ever changing environment and prioritize projects.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Adhere to Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA), Ivy League and NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Familiarity with rowing equipment.
  • Technical ability to run audio, video, and timing systems.
  • Budget and accounting skills preferred.
