Overview

The mission of the Princeton University Department of Athletics is to strive for excellence in academics and athletics, while embracing equity in opportunity, good sportsmanship, and ethical conduct.

The Coordinator, Athletic Friends Groups & Athletics Advancement position will support the overall operations of the Athletics Advancement team. This position will report to the Associate Director of Athletics, Advancement/Athletics Friends Groups.

 

Primary responsibilities will include oversight of communications and the planning and execution of annual events for the 18 Athletics Friends Groups that comprise Princeton’s 38 varsity programs, and 40 club sport programs. The Coordinator will also be asked to assist with groups’ donor stewardship fulfillment and annual fundraising campaigns. Beyond the Athletics Friends Group responsibilities, this position will support Tiger Athletics Give Day and other key priorities of the Athletics Advancement team and Department of Athletics.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Associate Director of Athletics, Advancement/Athletics Friends Groups to lead planning and execution of select Athletics Friends Group fundraising and alumni engagement events across 38 varsity athletics programs. This includes events hosted on-campus, regional events off-campus and virtual events. Examples include alumni day gatherings, pre- and post-game tailgates, golf outing fundraisers, major milestone celebrations, and more.
  • Provide support for larger-scale Department of Athletics events that span across Athletics Friends Groups, the Princeton Varsity Club and the Department of Athletics, including Tiger Athletics Give Day and the Gary Walters ’67 PVC Awards Banquet.
  • Under the guidance of the Associate Director of Athletics, Advancement/Athletics Friends Groups, the Coordinator will be tasked with oversight of the day-to-day execution of communications across the 18 varsity Athletics Friends Groups. Examples include program updates, newsletters, event communications, and more.
  • Assist with solicitation communications (email and hard mail outreach) for the Athletics Friends Groups, including for Tiger Athletics Give Day (TAGD), the Department of Athletics annual 24-hour giving day.
  • Work with the Athletics Advancement Assistant to support club sport communications and engagement efforts.
  • Support donor stewardship efforts, including the creation and fulfillment of stewardship collaterals.
  • Support donor engagement and recognition events as needed.
  • Work closely with the Associate Director of Athletics, Advancement/Athletics Friends Groups to assist groups with annual campaigns, including helping to organize donor prospect lists and curate solicitation communication templates.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • One to three years of experience in a similar field.
  • Proficient with MS office products (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to balance multiple projects at a time.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, including written and verbal, with various constituencies.
  • Ability to work with a high degree of flexibility in a highly-collaborative, fast-paced, goal-oriented environment.
  • Exercising discretion at all times and able to keep confidential all data related to Princeton and its alumni.
  • Willingness to work flexible and long hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Successful candidate must have an understanding of, and comply with the rules and regulations of the University, the Ivy League and the NCAA.
  • Ability to uphold the commitment to Department of Athletics mission and values of Education Through Athletics.
