Overview

The Admission Department has an immediate opening for an Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Admission.

 

In this role, you will be responsible for articulating the mission of Princeton University and conveying its policies and procedures to applicants, parents, school and community-based organization (CBO) counselors, alumni, and University personnel. You will provide group presentations at high schools and college nights, as well as conduct on-campus information sessions. Additional responsibilities include reading, evaluating, and summarizing applications for admission, and handling correspondence and phone inquiries. The Assistant Dean will also serve on the visitor management team and take the lead on the alumni interviewing program.

Responsibilities

The AD will make public presentations about Princeton University's undergraduate academic and extracurricular programs and resources, as well as admission and financial aid policies and procedures, to a variety of audiences both on and off campus. This will include approximately 4–5 weeks of travel, primarily in the fall.

 

The AD will read, evaluate, and summarize applications for admission and participate in selection committees while maintaining confidentiality and a high level of professionalism. You will take an active role in selecting and yielding the best students for the University.

 

This position also works closely with the Princeton Schools Committee to ensure the successful implementation of the Alumni Schools Committee interviewing process. The ~7,000-person-strong alumni interview corps completes approximately 30,000 meetings with applicants each year.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least three years of admission experience
  • Excellent writing and public speaking skills
  • Ability to relate positively to a variety of interests, backgrounds, and points of view using tact, diplomacy, and discretion
  • Ability to exercise good judgment while working collegially in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment
  • Patience, resourcefulness, initiative, and motivation
  • Willingness to learn and to accept constructive feedback
  • Familiarity with, and willingness to learn, technology and data-driven systems
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working with alumni programs
