Overview

Reporting to the Vice President for University Services, the Assistant Vice President (AVP) for Campus Dining is a member of University Services senior leadership team. The AVP is the senior administrator for Princeton University’s dining program responsible for all operational and administrative functions. Campus Dining is composed of three units; residential, retail, and catering.

 

The residential educational model is central to Princeton’s mission. The housing and dining experience is a key feature of the University’s residential program. This program engages multiple campus partners and is represented and led by the Deputy Vice President for University Services.

 

Campus Dining is predominantly a self-operated program with an annual budget of approximately $45,000,000 employing more than 500 team members. The organization partners with an outside hospitality group to operate three special campus venues. Campus Dining is a department within the University Services division.

 

University Services is a comprehensive auxiliary enterprise providing services in support of the institutional educational mission. Departments within the division:
• Campus Dining
• Campus Support Services
• Conference and Event Services
• Housing and Real Estate Services
• Print and Mail Services
• The Service Point
• Transportation and Parking Services
• University Services Administration

Responsibilities

We are looking for someone with the following qualifications:

  • Understand and execute the objectives and goals of the Vice President and the implications for programs, policies, and decisions.
  • Create and sustain a culture of transparency upholding the values of integrity and operational excellence with an institutional lens.
  • Translate institutional priorities, projects, and initiatives within the residential environment
  • Responsible for executing the culinary mission through operational excellence and fiscal responsibility.
  • Responsible for the operational, personnel, compliance, and fiscal administration of the department. 
  • Leverage technology and data to improve operational efficiency and effect change within the unit.
  • Creative and thoughtful leader, a strategic thinker who can assemble, communicate and manage a collaborative and highly functional campus dining team.
  • Knowledge and political savvy about how organizations such as Princeton University work, understanding how to get things done through both formal and informal networks.
  • Uphold the policies and regulations of University Services and Princeton University.

Qualifications

We are looking for an individual with the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, advanced degree preferred
  • 8-10 years of progressive leadership and management roles.
  • Proven record in operational management, capital project and strategic planning
  • Expereince managing complex organizations.
  • Demonstrated management of organizational design change including personnel restructuring.
  • Leadership in a variety of disciplines and within a college or university setting is preferred.

 

The Assistant Vice President for Campus Dining is an essential University position and must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
