Overview

The Princeton DMIA Integration team is seeking a skilled API Developer to join our team. In this role you will design, build, and maintain system-to-system integrations that connect our enterprise applications and enable seamless data exchange across the organization. You will serve as the primary integration engineer for our API platform. Designing a migration strategy from existing WSO2 to next-generation platforms such as Boomi or MuleSoft.

Responsibilities

Architect, Design and Develop

  • RESTful and SOAP APIs, event-driven integrations, and message-based workflows using WSO2 API Manager and WSO2 Micro Integrator.
  • Architect and implement system-to-system integration patterns including point-to-point, hub-and-spoke, and publish-subscribe models.

Collaborate and Coordinate

  • Collaborate with application owners, data engineers, and infrastructure engineers to define integration contracts, SLAs, and data exchange standards.

Production Support

  • Develop and maintain API documentation, integration design specs, and runbooks.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize integration pipelines for performance, reliability, and security.
  • Enforce API security best practices including OAuth 2.0, JWT, mutual TLS, rate limiting, and threat protection policies.
  • Participate in on-call production support rotation and respond to integration incidents per SLA.
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipeline setup and DevOps practices for integration deployments.

Qualifications

o Linux / Shell scripting
o Python programming
o SQL (query authoring and data validation)
o Basic networking (DNS, HTTP/S, TCP/IP, proxies, firewalls)
o Cloud infrastructure fundamentals (any major provider)
o IAM: LDAP, Active Directory, OAuth 2.0, certificate management
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with REST API development with various integration patterns
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with Boomi or MuleSoft integration platforms
• Proficiency in designing and consuming RESTful APIs; working knowledge of SOAP, GraphQL, and AsyncAPI
• Strong programming skills in Python and/or Java for integration scripting and transformation logic
• Proficient in SQL for data querying and validation across integration workflows
• Linux/Unix environment fluency including Shell scripting for automation and deployment
• Understanding of basic networking concepts: DNS, HTTP/S, TCP/IP, proxies, firewalls, and load balancers
• Experience with IAM concepts: LDAP, Active Directory, OAuth 2.0, SAML, and role-based access control
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure basics (AWS, Azure, or GCP): virtual networks, storage, managed services
• Experience with version control (Git) and CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or equivalent)
• Ability to read and produce integration design documentation and API specifications (OpenAPI/Swagger)
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.

 

PREFERRED: 

• 7+ years of hands-on experience with REST API development with various integration patterns
• 7+ years of hands-on experience with Boomi or MuleSoft integration platforms
• Hands-on experience with WSO2 API Manager and/or WSO2 Micro Integrator (ESB/EI)
• Exposure to event streaming platforms such as Apache Kafka or WSO2 Streaming Integrator
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) for integration runtime deployments
• Knowledge of enterprise integration patterns (EIP)
