The Materials Management Supervisor is a hands-on supervisor responsible for the financial and business management of the Facilities stockrooms within the Facilities Finance and Administrative Services department (FFAS) of Princeton University. Acting as the point contact for materials management, the Materials Management Supervisor is responsible for the delivery of first-class customer support, developing ongoing financial and asset controls, and advancing, strengthening, and ensuring effective materials management processes and procedures.
Through the management of three stockroom attendants, the Materials Management Supervisor will control and distribute roughly 3,000 inventoried items, totaling over 20,000 issues a year, and an inventory value of approximately $350,000. The role will have a broad set of customers and interactions, specifically working closely with Facilities Operations shop supervisors to meet operating needs.
The Materials Management Supervisor will play a critical role in safeguarding University assets, and complying with and adhering to University inventory and purchasing guidelines. As the financial lead, the Materials Management Supervisor will be responsible for continually reviewing and enhancing stockroom and shop purchasing practices. The incumbent will act as the primary liaison with the various shops within Facilities, storerooms across the University (including PPPL), and the Treasurer’s Office with respect to the automation of ordering, tracking and distributing materials through the Computerized Maintenance Management System (currently MAXIMO).
In partnering with the leadership team of the Facilities Finance and Budget Office (FFBO) in strategic decision-making, the Materials Management Supervisor will take the lead on various special projects involving cross-departmental teamwork, specifically leading the implementation of a central stockroom. Through analysis and research, the Materials Management Supervisor will be tasked with recommending changes and improvements to process flow and automation while meeting the needs of clients. In order to meet FFBO’s day-to-day tactical initiatives, this position will be called upon to provide administrative support to the members of that unit, as well as with colleagues in the larger FFAS department.
This position reports to the Assistant Director for Finance & Budget within FFAS and supports FFAS and Facilities Operations leadership.
