The Andlinger Center for Energy and the Environment (ACEE) at Princeton University is seeking a part-time financial assistant to provide support for the financial management and grants management functions of a multi-disciplinary center with a robust program of research, education, and outreach activities.
Under the supervision of the center's business manager, the financial assistant will be responsible for day-to-day financial transactions, monthly financial reporting activities, grant budgeting and financial monitoring, and other business-related tasks.
This is a part time position, working 20 hours per week. Projected hours are 9am-12:45pm Monday through Friday, however a specific schedule can be discussed upon interview.
Key areas of responsibility include the following:
Financial transaction processing: provide support for purchasing, processing and entering journal entries, deposits and vendor payments, manage consulting and independent contractor agreements, and adhere to Office of Finance and Treasury policies and guidelines for handling of all financial transactions
Financial statement reconciliation and review: review transactions for accuracy and correct errors, monitor actual expenses against budgets for sponsored projects, endowment, gift, and operating accounts; and apply knowledge of financial accounting and grant accounting rules and guidelines to monitor for inconsistencies
Financial report preparation: gather relevant financial data from university systems to provide reporting to center constituents and provide standard and specialty reports for distribution under the direction of the business manager
Sponsored research proposal preparation and grant management activities: work with center faculty members to prepare grant proposals, develop grant budgets with input from faculty and guidance from the business manager, and utilize university funding agency systems to submit proposals
Special project work: participate in process improvement projects as a key member of the ACEE team
The qualified candidate will be detail oriented, with excellent communication and organizational skills, and demonstrate the ability to use judgement and discretion in handling confidential information.
