  • Overview

    Reporting to a Professor of Politics and Public Affairs at the Woodrow Wilson School, the Program Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of the Empirical Studies of Conflict Project (ESOC) and is responsible for all aspects of pre- and post-award administration of sponsored research grants affiliated with ESOC as well as the program’s other budgets.

    Responsibilities

    Specific responsibilities include developing grant applications, including proposals for federal and private sponsors; preparing and monitoring sub-awards to partner organizations; managing the post-doctoral associate program; coordinating the processing of consultant agreements as needed; and managing the ESOC Annual Meeting and other research conferences. The Program Manager is also responsible for coordinating research compliance issues including filing and maintenance of human subject protocols and all financial duties associated with sponsored research.

    Qualifications

    Essential Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree with 3-5 years of relevant work experience. Successful candidate must possess excellent judgment and organizational skills; ability to prioritize effectively, multi-task and shift priorities quickly scheduling multiple projects; a collegial, problem-solving style based on personal integrity and professional confidence; excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels; extremely detail-oriented and able to manage up with ease. Must have excellent computer skills including significant experience with financial management tools, and proficiency with Excel, and a willingness to learn new software packages as needed. Proven ability to work effectively in building relationships with faculty, staff, and external partners. A deep appreciation of and respect for academic values and culture and an understanding of the critical role research and policy engagement play in maintaining the intellectual rigor and positive social impact of an elite research university.

     

    Preferred Qualifications

    Advanced degree and experience with development, stewardship, or financial management is preferred. Experience with the University systems (PRIME, Coeus, Labor Accounting) and other financial systems desired. Experience with electronic proposal submissions systems (e.g., Grants.gov) and human subject protocols and University policies and procedures preferred. Prior experience working in a fast-paced multi-tasking research environment in higher education or related field preferred.
