  • Overview

    The Eviction Lab is seeking a Faculty Assistant. This position will assist with administrative tasks for Professor Matthew Desmond and The Eviction Lab, which has built the first nationwide database of eviction records in an effort to understand the prevalence, causes, and consequences of residential security in America.


    The position supports by assisting with scheduling, collecting and disseminating information, arranging travel, maintaining records, completing office tasks, coordinating events and meetings, fielding correspondence, and completing special projects as assigned.  Candidates must submit cover letter along with resumes.



    -Scheduling assistance including, calendar management, fielding  appointment requests, organizing conference  line details, and other logistics

    -Provide backup assistance to other support staff in the Eviction Lab

    -Contact local housing organizations and coordinate other details where needed in advance of nationwide speaking engagements

    -Field general inquiries at evictionlab.org email address, and forward technical questions to Research Specialists



    -Perform course support functions such as preparation and maintenance of Blackboard sites, including uploading course related materials, sending emails to students and ordering books

    -Maintain CV and Open Scholar webpage

    -Perform general office tasks including mailing, ordering office supplies, and printing



    -Travel arrangements for faculty member and occasional guests

    -Maintain and reconcile monthly travel and expense credit cards

    -Process and request reimbursements



    -Event and meeting planning including catering orders

    -Coordinating campus visits (contact and directions)

    -Preparing and/or organizing materials for meetings, presentations


    Essential Qualifications 


    -Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills

    -General technology savvy and demonstrable expertise with MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint required

    -Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

    -Experience successfully working on a team


    Preferred Qualifications


    -Experience working with faculty in a higher education environment

    -Experience with Blackboard, PeopleSoft and Concur software applications a plus, but not required

    -Familiarity with Princeton University

    - Bachelor's degree preferred
