  • Overview

    The Department of Site Protection at Princeton University is searching for an experienced Physical Security Specialist responsible for design, implementation and program administration for key physical and electronic security integration activities at the University. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Site Protection, the successful candidate will review new building physical security designs, apply University Standards, coordinate appropriate supplier reviews, including managing a competitive bidding selection process. Upon awarding of electronic security system integration activities, the successful candidate will manage the complete project life cycle from systems implementation, all associated door and access control hardware integration management and oversight, to final acceptance testing of the systems.






    Systems Integration Management: 


    • Review Architectural drawings and designs for new and renovated buildings during the design and installation phases for card access, intrusion, electrified door hardware and video systems per project scope.
    • Support the architectural related requirements for new and renovated facility system installations for card access, intrusion, electrified door hardware and video systems per project scope.
    • Ensure that all systems integration work is delivered on-time, within scope and budget.
    • Develop system integration scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring that University physical and electronic security standards are followed.
    • Develop a detailed systems integration plan to track progress utilizing appropriate project management software.
    • Create and maintain effective working relationships with the primary client and all stakeholders
    • Coordinate all appropriate client, supplier, external integrators and service provider meetings.

     Supplier Management:


    • Establish and maintain relationships with associated third parties and suppliers.
    • Create and maintain comprehensive system integration documentations.
    • Qualify systems integrators and suppliers based on developed performance criteria and product capabilities.
    • Review and approve electronic security systems designs of external consultants, and security related hardware contractors.
    • Provide consultation on systems designs, bid analysis, supplier interface, project implementation, equipment consultation and security advisory support as required.


    Systems Management:


    • Develop and update security hardware and security system specifications for all equipment in the security systems portfolio.
    • Provide design support for facility applications and alteration of existing systems including electrified door hardware, intrusion, card access, and video systems.
    • Develop a process for the distribution and updating of University standards, best practices, and procedures for the Electronic and Physical Security Systems Program including security door and electrified hardware standards
    • Plan, schedule, manage installation and testing of card access systems, intrusion, video and electrified door hardware.


    Client Support:

    • Provide technical support to the Office of Capital Projects for security systems equipment and installation requirements.
    • Review and approve all security systems installation shop drawing and documentations from external consultants, security systems integrators and door hardware contractors.
    • Provide security systems integration oversight; coordinating electrical, OIT, and other technical resources, both internal and external to the University, related to all associated security systems implementations.
    • Coordinate new and refresher system training for all security, intrusion, and access control systems installed such as Site Protection Staff, Department of Public Safety, Customer end users and other University Departments as required.

    • Background in the field of electronic and physical security systems with strong security systems integration management skills including access control and electrified security door hardware.
    • Solid technical background, with well-developed understanding and hands-on experience working with and understanding design prints and system components.
    • Familiarity with Computer Maintenance Management Systems (e.g. Maximo, etc.)
    • Excellent client-facing communication skills.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Solid organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to multi-task across multiple work streams simultaneously.
    • Experience in managing access control, video, electrified security door hardware, intrusion and security system integration projects.
    • Must be able to function in an essential personnel role, which may include an extended on-campus presence during campus, local, regional or national emergencies.
    • Bachelor's Degree, minimal 5-7 years of experience with electronic and physical security systems or Technical School with minimal 7-10 years of experience with electronic and physical security systems




    • Familiarity with computerized Maintenance Management Systems (e.g. Maximo, etc.)
    • PSP or CPP (ASIS International) Board Certification
    • Recognized Project Management Certification
    • Familiarity with Software House CCURE 9000
    • Familiarity with Honeywell Intrusion Systems.
    • Familiarity with enterprise level VMS – Video Management Systems
    • Familiarity with access control integration with life safety systems as required by code
    • CAD Experience
    • Strong electrified door hardware and power door operator experience.





    This position works in an office setting, but also out in the field in varying weather conditions. The position will require travel throughout the campus from time to time visiting with staff, suppliers, integrators and clients. The position may engage in physical duties as the need arises
