  • Overview

    The Mamdouha S. Bobst Center for Peace and Justice is a think tank on the campus of Princeton University and affiliated with the Department of Politics. Its mission is to advance the cause of peace, mutual understanding and respect for all ethnic traditions and religious faiths. The Center sponsors research, panel discussions, conferences, seminars and workshops directed toward issues in areas such as sources of conflict and reconciliation, implications of cultural and religious conflicts, nationalism, regime stability and change, pathways for political self-expression, in the Middle East and other areas of the world.


    The Bobst Center is seeking a part-time program administrator (75% duty-time - 27 hours/week) to support center events and activities under the supervision of the Bobst Director, as well as providing assistance for the Center’s Program Manager. The position’s work schedule is open to negotiation but must include flexibility for regularly scheduled evening events (advance notice would be given always).




    Duties include, but are not limited to:


    • Plan and execute activities related to the Center’s designated sub- programs currently linked to WAPD and the Bobst-AUB collaborative initiative. Events range from weekly graduate seminars to multi-day conferences both at Princeton and in other parts of the world including Europe and the Middle East, Duties include:
      • Arranging visitor travel, lodging
      • Processing guest reimbursements and honoraria
      • Identifying and reserving venues
      • Hiring caterers and choosing menus
      • Oversight of set up and clean up
      • Staffing events as needed at registration table, interacting with speakers, attendees and other staff
      • Manage and arrange logistics for faculty and student exchanges between the American University of Beirut and Princeton as part of the AUB collaborative Initiative. Work closely with Faculty Director and Program Assistant at AUB on all program collaborations.


    • Assist the Director and the Bobst Program Manager
      • Arrange whatever is necessary for the Director’s travel and meetings, including booking air or rail tickets, car service, hotels.
      • Prepare Director’s Concur expense reports by substantiating credit card charges and ensuring that they are attributed to the correct chartstrings
      • Running errands as needed on and off campus for director. Sample errands might be picking up materials from the library, purchasing event supplies at a party store, dropping conference visitor gift bags off at a hotel, hanging event posters across campus.
      • Perform additional intermittent tasks such as replanting Bobst front door planters, watering indoor trees, hanging pictures, boxing up files, making restaurant reservations, maintain the building toner cartridge recycling program, preparing director’s office for important meetings, transporting and setting up Center podium backdrop, keeping the Center kitchen supplies available and organized, and more unanticipated tasks.
      • Maintain designated sub-program website pages and the Director’s own academic website
      • Maintain the budget of designated Bobst Sub-Programs


    • Assist the center director by completing requested tasks such as creating bibliographies, footnotes, copying, scanning, web research, and related academic tasks.
    • Assist the Faculty Director in managing grants, sponsored research, and completing necessary financial reports. This includes assistance in developing grant applications, including proposals for federal and private sponsors; preparing and monitoring sub-awards to partner organizations. Also assist with all post award administration and reporting.
    • Assist in hiring new personnel for Director’s research projects.



    Bachelor's Degree

    Must be available with advance notice to staff evening events on a semi-weekly basis

    High energy level

    Good organizational skills, able to multi-task

    Ability to maintain confidentiality

    Excellent written and oral communication skills

    Proficient in computer applications including but not limited to Microsoft office products, particularly Outlook, Word and Excel

    Willingness and ability to learn and use new applications and technology efficiently

    Experience maintaining websites, preferably using Drupal



    Experience with Princeton University business applications preferred but not required
