The Office of Programs for Access and Inclusion (PAI), housed within the Office of the Dean of the College, brings together a suite of University initiatives that support and advance Princeton’s commitment to an inclusive undergraduate student body. In particular, the office is home to the Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship Program (MMUF), the Scholars Institute Fellows Program (SIFP), the Freshman Scholars Institute (FSI), the Transfer Program, and Programs for Non-Traditional and Veteran students. These programs enhance the experience of students from lower socioeconomic backgrounds and other historically underrepresented groups.
Reporting to the Associate Dean of the College and Director of Programs for Access and Inclusion, the Coordinator and Communication Associate is responsible for general program coordination and support of the Freshman Scholars Institute, Scholars Institute Fellows Program, the Transfer, Non-Traditional, and Veteran Student Program, and the Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellows Program and assists staff, administration, and students associated with the Office of Programs for Access and Inclusion. In addition, the Coordinator and Communications Associate helps the Associate Dean create and implement a strategy for internal and external communication that showcases the work of the office and the success of our student participants. The Coordinator and Communication Associate works directly with student program participants and serves as an additional mentor and community builder.
Program and Office Coordination
The Coordinator and Communication Associate will support program coordination and general office work, including coverage for the reception. Specifically, program coordination includes event and program planning, event set up and breakdown, food and beverage orders and deliveries, and liaising with other campus partners and external vendors to facilitate room reservations, transportation, catering, and managing other logistics. The Coordinator will also assist with reception in the office, which includes greeting visitors, students, and guests, helping to manage calendars and schedules, answering phones, and helping to facilitate the office library. The coordinator will assist office staff with general office tasks, including copying, office maintenance, and printing and distribution of materials.
The coordinator will also assist the Program Administrator with office processes, helping to manage the payroll and time collection system, student stipends and payments through the SAFE system, and reconciliation of office expenses.
The coordinator manages, monitors, and updates the program’s social media accounts, coordinates media visits, ensures the archiving of program events, and liaises with staff from the Office of the Communication to ensure a timely, appropriate, and consistent communication strategy. The Coordinator also produces and distributes program materials, such as brochures, pamphlets, e-communications, and newsletters. In addition, the coordinator will assist program staff with data management and will be responsible for collecting and organizing program forms and student information. The coordinator will be the office’s primary liaison with our Office of Informational Technology colleagues, managing and updating the program’s four distinct websites and student information portal.
Student Mentorship and Community Building
The Coordinator and Communication Associate will serve as a mentor to students in the FSI, SIFP, MMUF, Transfer, and Non-traditional and Veteran Student Programs. The Coordinator will engage in inclusive mentorship practices, helping to support and empower the ~500 students who participate in these programs annually as they work to achieve their personal, professional, and academic goals. In collaboration with the Alumni Program Fellow, the Coordinator will take a lead role in organizing and leading community-building events for students, including campus gatherings, meals, and break/weekend outings. This work will include night and weekend hours.
